Credits & Licences

Last updated: September 6, 2026

Yoneco stands on the work of many people. This page carries the attributions its dictionary data and vocabulary lists are used under, and points to the licence texts of the software it is built on.

Japanese dictionary data

This app uses the JMdict/EDICT, JMnedict/ENAMDICT and KANJIDIC dictionary files, together with the RADKFILE/KRADFILE radical data. These files are the property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, and are used in conformance with the Group's licence.

The files are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. The dictionary bundled in Yoneco is a derivative of them, and is made available under the same licence.

JLPT vocabulary lists

The N5–N1 decks were compiled with reference to Tyler Freedman's JLPT Flashcards project (BSD licence, © 2012 Tyler Freedman) and the JLPT appendices on Wiktionary (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0). The decks' part-of-speech tags come from the UniDic dictionary (BSD licence).

Yoneco is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Japan Foundation or Japan Educational Exchanges and Services, which administer the JLPT.

Open-source software

The full licence text of every open-source package that ships in Yoneco is available inside the app under Settings → About → Open-source licences.
