Delete Your Account
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Deleting from the app
Open Yoneco and go to Account → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm, and the deletion is then scheduled.
This works whether or not you ever registered. Yoneco gives every device a guest profile on first launch so your progress is saved without an account, and that profile can be deleted the same way. If you are not signed in, the same entry reads Account → Delete my data.
When it happens
Deletion is scheduled for 14 days after you ask, and the app shows you the date. What happens until then depends on what you are deleting.
A registered account is signed out straight away and cannot be used or signed in to while it waits. If you change your mind, email support@yoneco.app from the address you signed up with, within the 14 days, and we will reactivate it.
A guest profile keeps working normally until then, and you can cancel from the same screen at any point before it — so a mistap costs you nothing.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription, and nothing you paid is refunded. Cancel it in the store you subscribed in (App Store or Google Play), or it keeps renewing.
After that date the deletion runs automatically and cannot be undone.
If your account signs in with Apple, Apple asks you to confirm when you schedule the deletion, and Yoneco then asks Apple to remove the app from your Apple ID. If the deletion is called off (a guest cancelling it, or us reactivating an account at your request), the account stays as it was; the next time you sign in with Apple, Apple asks for your consent again.
For a registered account, the study data on the device you delete it from leaves with the sign-out. Any other device the account is signed in on, and any guest profile, works differently, and it is worth knowing before you ask: the app erases that device's study data on that date, and it does not sort it by account. Anything studied on that device before the date goes with it — including progress made after it signed out, whether as a guest or under a different account. If you share the device, finish or back up that work before the date.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account, including your email address if you registered one.
- Your word scores and your entire study history.
- The decks you marked as under study, and the stories saved to your account.
- Your personal word hints.
- This device's copy of all of the above.
What is kept, and why
A few records stay, with your user ID replaced so they are no longer connected to you or to each other:
- Problems you reported. A mistake in a story is still a mistake after you leave, and these are what we work from to fix it.
- Feedback you sent. Same reason.
- Decks you had published. Other people study them.
- Purchase records. A record that a purchase was used has to outlive the account, or the same purchase could be claimed again.
The user ID on these is replaced with one shared value, the same for everyone who has been deleted, so they carry no name, no email address and no identifier of yours, and cannot be linked back to you or to each other.
One exception, and it is worth knowing: what you typed is kept as you wrote it. If you put your name, your email address or anything else identifying into a report, a piece of feedback or a deck you made, that text stays in the record. Email support@yoneco.app and we will remove it.
Easiest before the 14 days are up, while the record is still linked to your account and we can simply look it up. Afterwards it is no longer linked to anyone — that is the point of the deletion — so tell us roughly what it said and we will find it and take it out.
Usage analytics
If you allowed analytics, usage events already sent to Google Analytics stay in Google's systems. They are recorded under a scrambled identifier derived from your account — never your email address, and never the account ID itself — and they expire on Google Analytics' own retention schedule.
Deleting your account stops any further events and removes that identifier from our own records, but it does not reach into Google's copy. If you want that history removed too, email support@yoneco.app and wait for us to confirm before you let the deletion run.
Sending the message is not enough by itself, and we would rather say so than have you find out afterwards: a person has to read it and put the request to Google, and if that happens after your deletion has run it is already too late. So if the date is close, cancel the deletion — you can at any point before it runs — and schedule it again once we have told you the request is in.
Afterwards we cannot, and the reason is the deletion working rather than failing. The scrambled identifier is derived from your account ID, and once the deletion has run that ID is gone from everywhere we hold it — so there is nothing left on our side that could pick your events out of Google's copy. What is left there is no longer attached to anything that identifies you.
If you never turned analytics on — and in the web app they do not run at all unless you accept them — there is nothing there.
If you cannot use the app
If you have lost access to your device or cannot open Yoneco, email support@yoneco.app and ask for your account to be deleted. We will need the email address you registered with in order to find the account.
Guest profiles cannot be deleted this way. A guest profile is identified only by an ID held on the device itself, so there is nothing to match a request against — delete it from the app instead, or clear the app's data on the device, which removes that device's copy.
